My first love was bananas, then Legos, by kindergarten it was Mandy Robinowitz. Puberty, pimples and the occasional pitfalls of growing up inevitably followed but for the most part, life’s been good.
I’ve been out of school for about two years now, Sarah Lawrence College, class of 2002. Ah, SLC, four years spent on the on the winning team of the school’s percentage game (3 gals to each guy). I learned a lot, smoked a lot, was psyched to be there, was psyched to move on.
Formed my band RANA back in high school. Matt, Ryan and I learned to play music together in a carpeted basement. I met Scott Metzger a few years later and found another great friend and an amazing lead guitar player for the band. Two albums and countless gigs later, Village Voice has said, “RANA could well be the missing link between the Velvets and Ween.” And things are only getting bigger and better.
After a year and half in Brooklyn I’ve made the jump to Manhattan, 10001. Atomic Wings on 1st Ave. best wings in New York City. Joe’s pizza on Bleeker, perfect cheese/tomato ratio, sushi at Blue Ribbon in the west village, I could have that daily.
When RANA isn’t on the road, I work as a sound engineer at a nightclub. I’ve found that mixing music is very similar to playing music, and I appreciate being able to work in the field. I mixed Nelly and Jackson Browne a few weeks ago.
This website, that my very talented friend Kyle Bones has created, is just a way for me to take note of all the things going on in my life. It’s a space to put up my music, list my favorite websites, rant and rave about all the shit i like, love and detest and just a fun way to give shout outs to some people that I know. Take a moment, relax and look around. And hey, thanks for stopping by.
Andrew
